A Web Catalog capability is available as an additional, optional, feature to the IRIDIUM Retail Management Software tool. Using the DotNetNuke® Web application framework for content management, the tool controls the presentation of product information on customer-specific Websites.
The Web Catalog is constructed of custom add-on modules to the DotNetNuke content management system. These modules are then made available to the individuals designing a retailer’s Website so that they can incorporate the appropriate features of the Web Catalog into the necessary areas and pages within the Website. This functionality allows the Web designer(s) to control the look and feel of the Website while concurrently providing them with maximum control of product content without intimate knowledge of HTML programming.
Three types of users interface directly and/or indirectly with the modules and the Web Catalog: (1) individuals designing the retail Website (including anyone chartered with establishing the product catalog list), (2) individuals maintaining the product information within the Inventory Management System, and (3) on-line buyers.
Modules that are available to the individuals designing the retail Website include the following: Featured Items, Selecting Items, Product Listing, Comparing Items, Product Detail Information, Pricing, and Recommended Items.
Featured Items
This module displays those items that have been identified as “featured items” within the IRIDIUM Retail Management Software tool. A thumbnail image of the item, as well as item price, is displayed within the Featured Items module on the Web page. The user is allowed to select an item and drill in for more details. The Featured Items module is usually used as add on content to a home page or other page.
Inventory items stored within the system may be tagged to display within Featured Items modules on the customer Website. These “featured” items can be tagged as promotional items from within IRIDIUM Retail Management Software tool. Updating a featured items list, and associated promotional details is easily controlled and updated from within the tool.
